Precision- Knowing what you want is the first step towards achievement.
Do you know what you want in your business and in your life? If you don’t, you have a huge black-hole.
I’m going to give you a little story about a kid named Billy. Billy started out online dreaming big, the first time Billy realized that he wanted to start making money with his computer was when he was about 13 years old and started to sell things on eBay.
So, Billy started to learn some useful things, find some areas that looked profitable and made some sales. All was going great, but there was something that was missing…that was “what Billy really wanted to achieve” because let’s face it, he just didn’t quite know what he wanted yet, money wise or product wise.
So, after a few years, he gets away from ebay and starts to experience high school and moves on to college. Well, Billy gets bitten again one day by the internet bug. When he’s walking to class, he see’s a flyer calling out to students who want to make money online by filling out surveys, so Billy grabs one of the tabs and decides to check it out later on in the day.
After getting back to his room from classes, he decides to head onto the website and sign up to make money online! All is going great, the spark is back in him and he’s ready to take the world by storm! After a few weeks, the candle is burning out and he hasn’t made the money that was promised on the flyer so he gets frustrated…..a few other flyers are around campus so he tries other offers but to no avail…
Then another thing happens, and he gets involved in a MLM company and the flame becomes lit again with the hope of making millions! Well…needless to say the MLM company had a little fib about how “easy” it was to make money with them just like the previous flyers and ebay auctions did.
So, Billy becomes super frustrated and feels that “maybe this just isn’t for me”…
Around this time, an individual that Billy meets asks him “Why have you gotten involved with all of these programs, whats the true reason for doing this?”
The thing was…Billy never stopped to think about this question. He had always just “wanted to make money online” and wasn’t really clear on what he wanted.
AHA! “Lightbulb turns on”
So after spending about an hour talking with this individual, they decide that Billy should sit down with a piece of paper and write out some goals and a reason “why” sheet.
At first Billy struggles about what to put down, and settles on the reasons being that:
-bosses suck, he wants to make own hours
-being forced to work sucks
-better to enjoy the job than to hate it
-wants to see the world
-wants to be “The Man” in his business
-free schedule to “Live My Life”
and for goals he has
-30 days: $100 a month
-2 months: $300 a month
-6 months: $2,000 a month
and 1 year: $7,000 a month
so great…Billy has written down some goals and identified what he wants with his business.
Now comes the part that many people often screw up on…TAKING ACTION.
Billy starts to identify a niche with his new mentor, a niche that will be small enough that it won’t be too competitive yet big enough that there is money to be made there.
After spending about 10 hours with his mentor, a niche is identified and a blog is designed by Billy and his mentor, and the creation of a new product for this niche is in the works! On this website, Billy has a little box for people to sign up for his newsletter that his mentor helped him set up and Billy starts to get some people to sign up onto his list!
A month down the road, Billy has a product almost set up(with some help from his mentor), but he didn’t make his $100 a month goal….
He made $152.38 from some affiliate sales to his list! By developing a relationship with his list, he was able to become a trusted friend to them and when he had something that he thought might benefit them, he shared it with them and they appreciated it and bought using his link.
So it’s one week into the second month and Billy’s product is almost done… Billy has been meeting people and building up his list of individuals who wanted information on his chosen niche and has been sharing some good little tips and information to them, information that has helped him as well.
Upon completion of his product, Billy sends out a series of e-mails to his small list and receives some positive feedback from them and decides that it is time for him to send out the email telling people about his product being finished…
Something really good happens and the people on his list decide to buy his product! and guess what…they are so happy about the product and how good it works, that a lot of them create testimonials for Billy! Oh yeah, Billy also makes $500 in his second month and realizes that things are going great! And a bonus is that he now has testimonials and can share these with even more people!
The months go on and Billy starts to notice something, because he’s been taking some action and providing a good product for his chosen niche, he has been meeting every one of the goals he had set when he first started talking with his mentor.
Why did he wait so long to really identify what he wanted and create a plan of action….
So what’s the moral of this story? Leave some comments and let me know what you feel it is, I’d love to get some feedback and I hope that this helps you to get started or do just a little more to reap the rewards that you know you want.
