What Equipment Do I Need To Start Doing Live Videos?

In its simplest form, to get started with live videos all you need is your phone, an internet connection, and a Facebook fan page. /end of post

But I know that’s too simple and you’ll want some more advice. So that’s what this article will do. I’m going to share with you the things I use to make my videos for my Facebook Fan Page.

The first thing is my iPhone. I’ve got an iPhone 8 Plus. (That’s an affiliate link, so if you buy it through my link I get a % of the sale. It doesn’t cost you any more, but I figured i’d be upfront about it. All the links listed in this article will be affiliate links)

You also need to have a Facebook fan page. I made this video to show you how to create a fan page.

So once you have a fan page setup and you’ve got your phone connected to the Internet, you are all set.

You’ll need to have the “Facebook Pages Manager” app on your phone, so if you don’t have that you need to go download it.

Once you have that installed and you are logged in, you’ll simply go to your fan page and click on “Publish”, you’ll write out your subject you’re going to talk about and then hit the little video button.

Click the “Live Video” button

After that, you’ll want to turn your phone sideways and then click the blue button.

At this point, you’ll be “live” on your fan page! Now let the awkward first videos begin! Haha

What other tools are required to go live?

While you already have everything you need, there are some things that make it a bit easier for you to do this.

The first thing you’ll want to get is a tripod. You can go to a local store and pick one up, you can hop onto Facebook™ Marketplace and find one for sale, or you can buy one on Amazon.

I’ll link up a couple here that are on Amazon that you might be more comfortable getting since they’ll be new and you won’t have to awkwardly talk to humans.

Recommended tripods for live videos

Really any tripod can work as long as you have something that holds your phone for you. There are some adapters that you can get like the Vastar Universal Smartphone Tripod Adapter which is the one I have. It can just screw onto a bunch of different tripods.

What kind of lights do I need for Live Videos?

Natural lighting is always best, and I’m not a super expert when it comes to lighting your videos.

But this guy is, so watch this video to learn more.

The guy in the video is someone I recommend following and make sure you buy and read his book YouTube Secrets: The Ultimate Guide to Growing Your Following and Making Money as a Video Influencer

What lights do I use in my videos?

I bought this set Neewer 700W Octagon Softbox Continuous Lighting Kit , but I don’t recommend it that much. There are many options that are a better choice for you. The video above gave you those options. This will always change too, because new tech comes out every day.

How do I get comfortable doing Live Videos?

Ahh so the real question! The only way I’ve found is to just get started. The first videos you have are going to be super awkward and you’ll feel uncomfortable and weird.

The good news is that not many people will see these videos, because your audience is small at this point.

So commit to making a live video every single day for the next 21 days.
