How To Become an Expert on Any Subject You Choose

One of the biggest secrets to success online is in one word…. that word is Authority.

Do you know what authority is? Basically it’s just knowing what you are talking about and having the ability to express it to others in an easy way.

So what is the key to this?

Something that held me back from getting into an information-based business was that I could never possibly know enough to be an expert. Guess what? It’s easier than you think! 🙂

Something to keep in mind is that there are always people who are more knowledgeable, smarter or even more skilled than you. You can’t let this keep you down and keep you from doing what you want. Face it, being uncomfortable could mean success to you and if you keep persevering, you WILL win.

You don’t have to be Coach K in order to be a successful basketball coach and you don’t need to be a genius to become an Expert, you just need some patience and some hard work.

I know that you probably want to be “the best in the world”, but you don’t need to be! You can just be the best in your chosen field for a certain type of niche!

All you need to do is be the best in the place that your customers hang out and buy!!!! If you are the person people are buying from, you’re the best!!! There is plenty of success in small niches, so remember that.

The cool thing about having people who are smarter than you about your topic is that, you have mentors and teachers!!!! Being online allows you to connect with them, facebook, twitter, skype, all of these allow you to build a relationship with them and learn! This is your chance to get the information from them and teach it to YOUR customers.

Study the things that these people have done already, put them into your own words and videos. Make sure that you provide credit where due, which I got this information over at and I am super thankful I learned this information from Copyblogger! Thank you guys!

Another thing is that you don’t need to be the Earth’s greatest authority, do you? I mean, you can just be the easiest to reach and easiest to deal with in order to succeed. Make your customers absolutely LOVE dealing with you, make it EASY for them and they will start to love you and your information! Take something hard and break it down into steps that anyone can learn.

Another option is to change mediums of things. There are thousands upon thousands of articles with intelligent information in them… You can turn these into audios, videos, or even products! Make things that are overly complicated and make them simple enough that a 5 year old could understand them!

One last thing that has helped me dramatically in my business is that I started to TEACH! In order for you to learn, you start teaching. Teachers MUST know everything because they need to share it with their students, so what better way to become an expert than by teaching the subject?

There are people everywhere who are anxious to learn, have them become your apprentices and learn from you.

You start by teaching the folks who know absolutely nothing and don’t know how to find the basics for themselves. (Or who just don’t want to.) Teach the tried-and-true. It doesn’t matter how many other people are doing it. You just need to do it well, put your own personality into it(people LOVE personalities) , and you’ll find students.

When you are teaching you’ll see that the simple stuff gains a new depth and richness. You’ll learn things you never did before and you’ll keep learning! You’ll also be able to teach more and more intelligent students which allows you to charge more and make more money 😉 <---good thing for you! More money is always a good thing 🙂 Then, before you realize whats been happening, you become the "GURU"! You can spend time learning and studying for years and not learn the stuff that you will learn by teaching for just a few months. Be honest with your students and the experience you have, you WILL find students who are perfect for you. There is an abundance of everything in the world so you don't need to worry about that. Just begin with the end in mind, which is a cheating way to succeed faster 😉 Your goal in becoming an expert isn’t to look and feel like a giant genius. It’s to help your readers and customers. You might want to neatly letter this on a card and stick it somewhere you can see every time you use your computer. IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU.(Gold nugget) Know-it-alls have a tough time online. The “social” nature of social media means there’s always someone who is out to get you if you have a huge ego. You'll find people trying to cut you down wherever you go so don't let them keep you down. When you approach your chosen field with curiosity, modesty and a truly sincere desire to help you WILL gain fans who absolutely love and rave about everything you do! Keep your audiences needs at the front of your mind and you'll win.
