Who Is Chris Hughes?

What’s up?

chrislittlekid

Well, this part of my web site is supposed to be about who I am..

So, I guess I’ll tell you a little bit about me.

I was born in a small town in upstate NY by the name of Waverly. I’m the youngest of 3 boys and grew up always hanging out with my brothers. Hanging out at their sporting events, dribbling either a basketball or a soccer ball or juggling.

When I was younger I had the dream to play professional basketball and would practice day and night, dribbling a ball around and shooting hoops as much as I could. Throughout high school I played soccer, basketball and golf although I ran track in 9th grade, I hate running without a ball to chase so went back to golfing.Needless to say, I’m not a professional basketball player.

Off to College…

After high school, I went to the University at Albany as a freshman. hehe, Albany was a LOT of fun. But, I didn’t get the type of work done that I should have gotten done….first year being “free” and I kind of took advantage of it too much.

After Albany, I went to Broome Community College in Binghamton, NY for a year and a half, switching my major from Chemistry ( I was thinking about being a Chiropractor) to business administration. I got through BCC and graduated with an Associates Degree in Business Administration. Go me!

In Binghamton, when I was living in an apartment by myself, I decided to get into “making money from home” and bought into paid surveys, mailing out envelopes, cash gifting, affiliate marketing, and dabbled in Network Marketing. I spent a lot of time and money doing these events and didn’t really see “the big picture” of it all. Not really understanding how to succeed in a business, I spent time switching and switching and switching, never keeping focused on ONE thing.

Needless to say, I wasn’t very successful. Well, I do consider that a success though, I learned from my experiences.

2 Colleges Later…

I decided to continue my education at Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY.

I attended Buffalo State College and created a bunch of great friendships while living there. Some of my best friends who literally helped me  grow into who I am today. Thank you all, you know who you all are…especially my 90 Putnam crew ;)

While taking classes full-time  I worked directly with some small business owners in the Buffalo area, teaching them how to use Social Media and Blogging to connect with their clients and get them new clients. I also got into information marketing and decided that because I’m a juggler, I might as well create a video course teaching people how to juggle! So…I did it and it’s called Juggling Secrets

Where is Chris now?

As of September of 2010, Chris is now living in Orlando, Florida on the Butler Chain of Lakes on Lake Sheen. Chris has been building niche blogs for affiliate marketing, still working with small businesses, building Florida’s best online marketing company and bartending at a Win Bar part-time. He’s always wanted to move somewhere warm and finally has!

Why Generation Y?

I recently read the book, Never Get a Real Job and came across this interesting quote talking about the people born in Generation Y and thought it was relevant.

“Our coddled upbringing and fearless attitudes makes us willing to take more risks than previous generations. The same outlook also makes us cock, careless, and, at times, reckless know-it-alls who are under the impression that the world owes us something. Although Gen Y has been referred to as the most entrepreneurial generation in history, we’ve also been called irrational whiners, cry babies, spoiled brats, gratification whores, fame-seekers, approval junkeis, and the entitlement generation.”

I feel that my generation deserves this because the vast majority of us walk around as if our brilliance and enthusiasm entitle us to fame, fortune, and instant success. The first step to recovering from issues like this is to first realize that there is a problem. I have felt this way before and it’s the reason I am working so hard now on learning as well as applying the information I’m learning. When I am super-successful I want it to be because I worked smart to get to where I’m at. I earned everything that I received and am deserving of everything that I get as a result of that.

So you can hate Generation Y for that reason, but I’m going to use it as a reason for being me and a reason for motivation. I strive to use my abilities with technology and social media to help others because I’ve been lucky enough to be around it my whole life. I feel that this has given me an advantage in working with older generations and will continue to be a differentiating factor in why people choose to work with me over a competitor. Maybe that’s the self-entitlement coming out, but I truly feel that I have an advantage over hiring another person.

So Who Is Chris Hughes and How Can He Help Me?

I’m a  Generation Y Social Media dude. I’m literally obsessed with business and spend the majority of my free time reading marketing & business books, listening to marketing information or going through video courses so that I can learn more. I’ve accepted the fact that I’m passionate about business and now embrace this aspect of my life.

I love helping older business owners learn how to use social media and blogging to grow their business and get real, measurable results. I have experience in video marketing, blogging, and social media marketing and love to teach them over at Brain Smart Success, the company I’m growing with my father.

In fact, I’ll even show you how to juggle your businesses Internet Marketing campaigns so that they flow smoothly together!

What do I want to be when I grow up?

-World Traveler
-Coach
-Leader
-Golfer
-Connector

I strive to design my business around my life. Not the other way around.

I am a student of life and will always be.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
~Mark Twain

Hi Chris, you're doing a great job at a young age. We're gonna have to connect on a deeper level and truly “mastermind” sometime. Hit me up on skype at the1cbiz and we'll make sure you're invited to the New TSA Skype Mastermind Group. ;-) BTW: Awesome Blog Layout … I like the header. It looks like a kid did it, but still, its unique and that's what is most important. I also enjoyed reading about you here. Crap, Makes me 2nd guess my own bio ;-) hehe

  • http://WhosChrisHughes.com Chris Hughes

Thanks Curt! I'll be sure to add you to my skype account and we'll definitely need to mastermind soon :)

haha I made the header because I needed something a little different…i've got a graphic designer re-designing one in a more professional manner and will be updating the layout of everything on the blog to make it more professional in the coming weeks. (It's part of my summer projects )

as for my bio, i'll probably be updating it as I go along because it seems like everyday my life changes and it's ever evolving so I'll need to keep updating it :) Chat soon!

Chris, very interesting. How much do you charge for a week? 2,3,4? Thanks

  • http://WhosChrisHughes.com Chris Hughes

I just wrote a little blog about prices where I am working for a week-month for clients here > http://whoschrishughes.com/a-crazy-idea-that-will-help-you-build-your-business/

1 out of the 5 spots has already been taken for 1 week, but there are still 4 open slots.

  • Walter

I am looking for someone to create a social media marketing plan for my business that I am bringing over from Nova Scotia. I have done very well with my company so far but would like to expand it within the states. I know the impact that social media marketing can add to a business and was wondering if you would give me a quote on how much it would cost for your time for about a week and a half. It would consist of you working with 2 members of my team in developing the best route to creating a social media marketing mega-mogul.

  • http://WhosChrisHughes.com Chris Hughes

Hey Walter, it really depends on what you need done and all. I’m currently offering a week of my time in my latest blog post, http://whoschrishughes.com/a-crazy-idea-that-will-help-you-build-your-business/

The price would be that price without any of the travel expenses if I wasn’t to travel to your business. I’d love to chat more with you to see what your expectations are and if us working together could be a good fit. Send me an email at Chris@WhosChrisHughes.com and we can set up a time to chat further.

  • http://WhosChrisHughes.com Chris Hughes

A lot of people get it confused at first. My name is fairly common. I still have yet to visit Harvard or meet up with Mark Zuckerberg. BUT, there is still time ;)
