The “Ready, FIRE, Aim” Principle

by Chris Hughes on December 2, 2009

Taking action is often one of the biggest things that holds us back from getting to the point that we want to be at in our life. We all have had a great idea, for me, I personally have a notebook that’s loaded with idea’s that I feel are great. So what is the reason that we aren’t all huge successes?

I believe the reason is that people get stuck with the belief that they must get ready, then AIM, then FIRE. In my opinion, looking at business in this way is holding you back. In fact, it’s one of the single biggest reasons for you not reaching the monumental success that you know you deserve.

The reason I am writing this blog post up is because it frustrates me when I talk to people online and they tell me about an awesome idea that they have. They have a great product or service in their mind, yet they are either scared to put a product together, or they are scared of it not working.

Having this mindset of failure is terrible. If you only think of all the ways you can fail, I want you to leave this blog right away. This blog is based on the way I think and the people who I surround myself with. “How can I make this work” is a question you need to be asking instead and you MUST develop a mindset of abundance.

What is holding you back?

Why haven’t you created the product that you’ve wanted to. Many of us are experts on something and if you aren’t, check out a post on how to become an expert on any subject.

Most of the time it will only take a weekend to finish a project. Do you have a weekend? I’m in college and have given up MANY weekends to devote my time to furthering my business education and creating assets for myself. Sure it sucks not being able to go out and spend $100 at the bar with my friend, but in the end wouldn’t we all rather create an asset than kill brain cells and forget what happened on Friday or Saturday night? I know for me, I am getting to the point where I weigh my personal education more than getting drunk. Are you there yet?

One of the most powerful principles that you can learn to APPLY is what I like to call the “Ready, Fire, Aim” principle.

Ready, FIRE!, Aim

So what is the Ready, Fire, Aim principle?

It’s pretty simple actually. Most times we have a plan(Ready) but then we go to the Aim stage. We often get STUCK at the aiming stage, and this causes us to not move forward. You may be familiar with the term Analysis Paralysis which causes many of us to over analyze everything and end up forgetting the FIRE part of the formula…. this sure doesn’t lead to anything being accomplished!

Instead, how about you try the ready, fire, aim principle?

If you are here, you are most likely already at the READY stage. If you have an idea and have done some basic research and understand there is a desire for your product or service, you are ready. Now, just FIRE. Put together a product or service, build a business, or create some video trainings. Get the product together, you can worry about aiming AFTER.

The reason this works…

The reason that this principle works is that once you have a product, service or business together, your customers TELL you if the product sucks. That’s when the “AIM” comes into play. Your customers will gladly help you improve your product and if you offer them a discount for being an early customer, some of them will gladly share the new and improved or VERSION 2.0 of your product/service. Just make sure you let the first customers get the improvements for free as a thank-you for helping!

Another benefit of this is that you will have a product out there! Who cares if it’s not the best? You can always add value, by adding value you are making the product or service better and people will absolutely love the fact that you are helping them either solve a problem, or enhancing a pleasure for them.

Anyway, I don’t want to take away any of your time from getting your project finished so get off your butt and go finish that project you’ve been putting off!

If you are still reading this, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!? Get to work!
