The Pursuit of Happyness Life Lessons

I’ve gotta admit, the movie The Pursuit of Happyness is one of my all-time favorite movies.

Will Smith is one of my favorite actors of all time and I even bought his CD’s when he was a singer. Talk about a real fan, right?

Today we watched The Pursuit of Happyness again and I’ve just gotta say it’s one of the most inspiring stories I’ve ever heard.

This dude Chris Gardner is the definition of someone who made something out of nothing. He was a very smart dude to begin with, but ended up having a business idea of his that went bad and didn’t pan out as he had hoped… not that that’s ever happened to any of us, right?

He was struggling to pay his bills and even got down to a couple bucks in his bank account… I’ve been there quite a few times with this Entrepreneurial journey I’ve been on…

Watch the trailer quick:

What’s interesting about this movie to me is how the main dude, Chris Gardner, put himself out there 100% in order to succeed for his family.

He had a young son, played by Will Smith’s actual son in the movie, and he did everything in his power to help give a good life for his child. Instead of completely giving up on himself when his business didn’t do as well as he had hoped, he kept pushing forward.

Chris put himself out there one day when he saw a man get out of a nice car in front of a big building in the city. He asked the guy what he did and mentioned he was a stock broker. Immediately this got Chris interested in doing this because he was good with numbers as a child.

TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY

One of the personality traits that I’ve noticed in successful people is that when they have an idea that they can do something, they take action immediately. They take an action to get to where they want to be immediately. They don’t put off this decision until days or months down the road. It’s one of the many personality traits that I admire of Chris Gardners.

By making these decisions immediately, you put yourself out there. It’s either sink or swim for ya. That’s the reason I first moved to Florida, the reason I came down here to Panama and the reason I will do things in the future. I find that putting myself out there causes me to step out of my comfort zone and find a way to make it work.

You want something, go get it. Period.

This is some of the best advice that you can get.

Never let anything hold you back, if you want something you get it. There is ALWAYS a way to make something work. It might not be easy and it might not work out initially, but by taking the first step towards achieving it you are separating yourself from the majority of people.

By going out and getting what you want to accomplish, you will experience a life that will be full of fun experiences and a life that is extremely memorable.
